MVYAA Softball

Class of 2012 Magic College Commitments!  The following girls will be continuing their softball careers next year at the collegiate level:

Holly Vizek -- Smith College (MA)
Taylor Heasley -- Ohio Wesleyan University (OH)
Eliana Budoff -- Muhlenberg College (PA)

The Mount Vernon Magic teams are select tournament teams sponsored by MVYAA-Softball. The Magic program began as a continuation of our house all-star teams' play, who began to play together in tournaments over the summer. Thus, the Magic program was born in 2003. For our first two seasons we played as the Mount Vernon All-Stars (with teams at 12u and 14u) before formally adopting the name Magic in 2005. In 2006 we added a 10u team, in 2008 a 16u team, and in 2010 an 18u team!  BIG NEWS -- for summer 2012 we will launch our new 23u Magic team to welcome back our college players!!!!

Teams typically form their rosters in March (for the spring/summer season) and August (for the fall season).

Unlike most other "travel" organizations, the Magic respects and encourages girls' participation in recreational (house) softball as well as high school softball. In fact, during the primary (spring) season, our policies require girls to play high school or house softball unless they obtain a waiver from our Board, given only occasionally for special circumstances. 

Magic teams typically register and play in events by various sponsoring organizations, including: FCGSL (Fairfax County Girls Softball League), NSA (National Softball Association), ASA (Amateur Softball Association of America), Pony, USSSA, and FAST.
