The Mount
Vernon Youth Athletic Association (MVYAA) Softball program is dedicated to
providing players, parents, and fans with a fun, exciting, informative and
competitive softball experience.
We are located in southeast Fairfax County near historic George Washington's Mount Vernon and Fort Belvoir. Currently, MVYAA supports two levels of play: "House" and "Tournament Teams".
Our main focus is on girls youth fast pitch house (recreational) teams for girls ages 7 - 16. (NOTE: Girls who play High School Varsity softball are not eligible to play House ball.)
MVYAA House Teams: play in the spring and fall in a joint league with Fort Hunt Youth Athletic Association and Alexandria-Potomac Little League. Teams are newly formed every season at three levels of play: C-Ball (coach pitch), Junior Ball (10-12) and Senior Ball (13-16). Additionally, MVYAA Softball participates in the Northern Virginia House All-Star Tournament (10U, 12U, and 18U) at the end of the spring season (mid-June). We typically field two teams at each age level, but we aspire to grow!
MVYAA
Tournament Teams:
For those players interested in a more competitive level of play, MVYAA fields
Tournament Teams (MAGIC)
at the 10U, 12U, 14U, and, for the first time in 2008, 16u age levels. The
Magic is a “house ball friendly” select program, allowing girls to play both
recreational (house) and Magic softball. At the 14u and especially at the 16u
level, Magic play is likewise designed around the high school softball seasons.
Tournament Teams are formed through House coach recommendation or tryouts (if required). In the spring and summer, "MAGIC" play begins toward the end of the House season. In the fall, "MAGIC" play is concurrent with the fall House season. Magic players eligible to play house ball are encouraged and generally required to play house ball except in special circumstances. Tournament play does not conflict with house ball.
