Welcome to MVYAA Softball
Our main focus is girls youth fast pitch recreational teams for girls ages 7-16. We encourage newcomers and all levels of player. (Note: Girls who play high school varsity softball are not eligible to play House ball -- but they are encouraged to seek placement on one of our tournament teams). MVYAA House Teams:These recreational teams play in the spring and fall in a joint league with Fort Hunt Youth Athletic Association and Alexandria-Potomac Little League. Teams are newly formed every season at three levels of play: C-Ball (coach pitch), Junior Ball (10-12), and Senior Ball (13-16). Additionally, MVYAA-Softball participates in the Northern Virginia House All Star Tournament (10u, 12u, and 18u) at the end of the spring season (in mid-June). We typically field two teams at each age level, but we aspire to grow! We form house teams with team parity being paramount -- as such, teams are realigned each season and requests are entertained but cannot be guaranteed so that we can balance talent levels between teams as evenly as possible. We have many experienced house coaches but are always seeking more -- please consider volunteering as a recreational coach! MVYAA "Magic" Tournament Teams: For those players interested in a more competitive level of play, MVYAA-Softball fields tournament teams (Magic) at the 10u, 12u, 14u, and 16u age levels. The Magic is a "house ball friendly" (and "high school ball friendly") select program, allowing and encouraging girls to play both recreational (house) and Magic softball. At the older levels, Magic play is likewise designed around the high school softball seasons. Tournament teams are formed through open tryouts and House coach recommendation. In the spring and summer, Magic play ramps up toward the end of the House and high school seasons. In the fall, Magic play is concurrent (but non-conflicting) with the fall House season. Magic players eligible to play house ball are encouraged and generally required to play house ball (particularly in the spring) except in special circumstances (such as players involved in high school sports). Tournament play does not conflict with house ball or high school play.If you are interested in learning more about MVYAA-Softball, please visit our Information, House, Select, and Contact pages! |
